How can an empty stage become an enchanted forest, a temple, or a dream?

This lab explores practical scenic design using modular construction, lightweight structures, theatrical scrims (semi-transparent fabric used for lighting and projection effects), visual illusion, and environmental storytelling.

Participants will begin developing ideas that can immediately move into the construction and testing of scenic elements for Tales of a Jaguar Magician. Selected concepts may become part of prototype public presentations planned for November or December.

Ongoing hands-on construction sessions may continue at the Dixon studio (weather permitting) and other project locations as scenery, projection surfaces, and environmental installations are developed.

Artists, builders, fabricators, designers, and creative problem-solvers of all experience levels are encouraged to participate.
