2025 | Comedy | Directed by Fernando Eimbcke, Starring Aivan Uttapa, Melanie Frometa, Rosa Armendariz | 1h 24m | NR
14-year-old Olmo, given the task to take care of his bedridden father, Nestor, gets invited to a party by his neighbor. Olmo makes a plan to escape from his duties and will do anything to meet his beautiful neighbor, leading to moments of chaos and laughter.
“Eimbcke and his fellow writer, Vanesa Garnica, locate the stakes in ordinary life, embracing its indignities and intimacies until the film, wonderfully anchored by clever scoring, becomes something like a song itself.” – Beandrea July, New York Times
“However, the lasting impact of ‘Olmo’ is our own nostalgia, the remembrances of what we once perceived as dire straits and the evolutions of what we now value.” – Peyton Robinson, RogerEbert.com
